First words

There is nothing cuter than to hear Quinn talk. His words are coming fast and furious, and you can actually see him thinking about which word to use, and how to say it. He even exaggerates his mouth movements to try to get some words out!!

His current favourites are (using phonetic spelling):
- Ha-mr (hammer)
- My tur (my turn)
- Peeza! (pizza)
- szirs (scissors)
- Annie (Aidan)
- toos (tools)
- cado (avacado)
- you (thank-you)
- show (show)
- muck (milk)
- soos (shoes)
- pees (please)

Boys night.... plus a girl

Get your minds out of the gutter people!!

Aidan was begging us to have a 'boys night' so he could have his buddies from daycare over. But, we also had to invite his best bud Alyssa, so it was a boys night, plus a girl. Sooo... we bit the bullet and had 4 boys and one girl (all under the age of 4!) over for pizza, a play and a movie last night.

I don't think the word chaos adequately captures what happened last night. For some reason, all they wanted to do was chase each other around the house! But, the kids had a great time, the house is still standing, and we survived so all in all I'd say it was a success.

That being said, I'm not planning on hosting another boys night for quite some time!!!

Speeding down the hills

After working for 15 hours yesterday, Chris was able to take today off. So, the boys and I and the McKenney Clan headed over to the Pinery for some tobagganing.

It was awesome! I've never been to the Pinery in the winter, and I highly recommend checking it out. They had two fabulous hills, one mid-sized one, and one really big one (try getting up that sucker while dragging a sled with a kid in it!). We had a great time going down the hills - even Quinn loved it! He kept saying: "Moe, Moe!!"

After the tobagganing we drove a little bit to a quiet spot where we fed the birds. The flew right onto our hands and nibbled at the bird seed.

Unidentified Red Spots...

The hits just keep coming for our poor little Quinner. He woke up yesterday with a rash - red spots on his arms and tummy. They didn't seem to bother him so I chalked it up to just another rash that kids get.

Fast forward to this morning. He wakes up and is absolutely COVERED in red spots that are raised, and he's itching. Oye. Of course, the Pediatrician's office is closed today (it's always closed when I need it!) so I took him into the walk-in clinic.

Turns out he is most likely allergic to the Amoxicillin they gave him last week for his ear infection. If he is allergic, then he's also most likely allergic to all forms of penicillin. I'll have to take him to be tested when he gets older.

The upside is that Quinn is his usual happy self - just covered in a nasty rash.

Aidan was very upset that he had to go to daycare, because he wanted to come to the Dr's office to keep Quinn happy. He kept saying: "Quinn, if you're not better by the time I'm done school, we'll take you to emerg." Cute, cute, cute!! Now if only I could get him to be that considerate when they're playing together......

Snow! Glorious Snow!!

We finally got some snow today! Chris and I immediately bundled up the boys and headed outside because we didn't know how long the snow would last.

Aidan had a blast shovelling with Dad - I hope that his love of shovelling continues well into the teenage years! Quinn was a little unsure of what to do at first. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that he couldn't really move much in his snowsuit and boots. But after a few turns around the lawn in the sled he was up and toddling along in the snow.

For the record, the snowfall lasted exactly an hour and a half - we'll see how long the snow actually stays on the ground!!

Skating along

Aidan started 'skating' lessons this year. He's not really skating in the truest form of the word, but he has progressed to moving along the ice fully upright, and at times there is even some gliding!! HUGE steps considering he only started in September (and especially when you consider that neither Chris or I can really skate!)

Christmas lights, ear infections, hammering, oh my!

The Christmas lights, decorations and tree are down. Aidan's quite sad about it - he says that our house used to look so beautiful with all the lights. :-) Now whenever he sees a house that still has their lights up he says: "What the heck?!?! Why do they still have their lights up?!?!" Of course, he also continues to ask when we can put our lights back up.....

We discovered on Tuesday that Quinn has a double ear infection. Poor little dude - no wonder he couldn't sleep. Thankfully the antibiotics are kicking in, and the little monkey is almost 100%. Good thing he likes his medicine! Whenever we give it to him he says "Moe Mummy". He's becoming quite the little chatterbox. His newest gems are: "sit Mummy" (when he wants me to play with him), and "my shoes" (he's currently going through a bit of a shoe fetish - he gets rather annoyed when we take his shoes off when we come in the house),

Meanwhile, Chris continues to work mercilessly on the basement. The framing is mostly done, electrical is wired, just insulation, vapor barrier, drywall, flooring, painting, trim - gasp!! It's unlikely we'll hit my Superbowl finish date, but the end of February looks do-able. Chris deserves a medal for all his hard work.

Till next time....

Welcome home!

So we did it - we joined the world of bloggers. Guess this means that I'm a part of Time's person of the year... what a frightening thought!!

Anywho - here begins what I hope to be a peek inside the craziness that is our lives.

Enjoy!
