Dust, dust - everywhere freakin' dust!!!!!!!!

Well the drywall in the basement is done. It looks AWESOME!! It's amazing to see the transformation from basically a concrete block with some 2x4's, to a fully drywalled basement. The rooms look HUGE!!

Of course, the major downside is the bloody dust. We have dust everywhere!! We've washed the floors on the main floor at least 4 times (in one day!!), and Chris has vaccuumed, washed and dusted downstairs until he's blue in the face. We even changed the filter on the furnace because the old one was clogged with dust. Grrrrr.... the downsides to finishing a basement in the dead of winter.

But, with the walls and ceiling up you can almost see the whole thing being finished soon. Of course, we still have to prime, paint, dry-core the floor, lay the carpet and laminet, put up the trim, doors, etc. But, we're almost there - really!!

As a complete aside - our Quinn will be TWO (yes, TWO!) in four days!! How is that possible? However, he is now known as "Pinn". Yep, he's figured out his name, but he can't quite make the "Qu" sound. So Pinn it is!!

Christmas lights, ear infections, hammering, oh my!

The Christmas lights, decorations and tree are down. Aidan's quite sad about it - he says that our house used to look so beautiful with all the lights. :-) Now whenever he sees a house that still has their lights up he says: "What the heck?!?! Why do they still have their lights up?!?!" Of course, he also continues to ask when we can put our lights back up.....

We discovered on Tuesday that Quinn has a double ear infection. Poor little dude - no wonder he couldn't sleep. Thankfully the antibiotics are kicking in, and the little monkey is almost 100%. Good thing he likes his medicine! Whenever we give it to him he says "Moe Mummy". He's becoming quite the little chatterbox. His newest gems are: "sit Mummy" (when he wants me to play with him), and "my shoes" (he's currently going through a bit of a shoe fetish - he gets rather annoyed when we take his shoes off when we come in the house),

Meanwhile, Chris continues to work mercilessly on the basement. The framing is mostly done, electrical is wired, just insulation, vapor barrier, drywall, flooring, painting, trim - gasp!! It's unlikely we'll hit my Superbowl finish date, but the end of February looks do-able. Chris deserves a medal for all his hard work.

Till next time....
