Crafty veterans...

This weekend we headed up to Mississauga for an ultimate tournament. For those of you that don't know, Chris and I started playing ultimate about 10 years ago, and absolutely LOVE it! Alas, between having kids and injuring my knees repeatedly (let's just say that I'm running on rims) I had to retire from the sport.

But, Chris is still in fighting form, so we drove up so that he could play on a team composed of most of our former teammates from Toronto. It was AWESOME to see everyone again, and Chris had a blast playing (although his body begs to differ - with age comes this nasty thing called cramping).

Here is a picture of my man on the field:

Can I just get a hot damn here please?!?!? I mean seriously - how hot is my man?

And another of him in action:

(thanks to Nigel for the awesome pics!)

While at the tournament, Dave was chatting with a guy from another team. This guy was in his early 20's, as were the rest of his teammates. They were talking about the people on Chris' team, and Dave happened to point to Chris and say: "Yeah, that guy there has four kids and is 36." The other guy looked at Dave in awe and said: "Four kids? 36? Man, I hope I'm still playing ultimate when I'm in my 30's."

Yep - he said it. Can we get a collective GROAN?!?!?! I mean seriously! I didn't realized that when one turned 30 we had to hang up our cleats and enter the old folks home!!

When we started playing ultimate 10 years ago there were always the 'older' players who we called the crafty veterans. I guess we have now become the crafty veterans.

Oh well, better than being crusty old farts I guess.... ;-)
