I have a confession: I haven't done nearly as much 'one-on-one' activities with Shannon & Marin as I did with the boys. There - I said it. It's not something that consciously happened or that I'm proud of, but as more kids came into the mix, I began to have less time to do things I would 'normally' do with the boys.
I often struggle with this, as the younger kids are often happy to just tag along to whatever the older kids want to do - rarely complaining. If however we do something more geared towards the younger set, the older kids are content for a little bit, but then the "Mom, I'm boooooorrrreeeddd" kicks in. So unfortunately, we often do things the older kids want to do.
Case in point: Storytime at the library. Now don't get all huffy and think that these poor children are never read to! We read to them all the time, and in fact now that Aidan can read I've got him reading to Shannon as well (which she loves!). What I haven't had a chance to do is take the girls to the Storytime sessions at the library.
Well, thanks to a kid swap arrangement with my friend Laura, I now have the chance to take ONLY the girls to the library for Storytime. Guess what? They loved it! It was so sweet to watch Shannon sit cross-legged on the floor listening intently to the story. It was hilarious to watch Marin try to imitate Shannon, then give up and just wanter around babbling quietly to herself.
Here are some pictures:
Shannon and her buddy Tatum listening:
Cuties!
