Well, the much ballyhooed storm of the century hit. I kept looking out the window last night to see when the snow was going to start. It started around 9:00 and then the wind kicked in. It was so windy last night that it sounded like it was raining because the snow was hitting the house so hard.
By the time I woke up we had yet another winter wonderland outside. I'm guesstimating about 12 - 18 inches of snow. And not the light fluffy stuff either. This was heavy, heavy snow. And guess what? It is now 1:22 p.m ET and it is STILL bloody snowing!! Enough already!!
Yep, this is the size of the drift against our back door:
All bundled up and ready to go outside:
Helping Dad shovel:
To put this in perspective: Quinn is roughly 42 / 43 inches tall. The snowbanks on the side of our driveway are bigger than him!
There is some beauty in all this mess:
And of course, the boys can always find something to do with all the snow!!
Our poor rink has about 18 inches (and counting) of snow on it. Chris tried to shovel it and gave up. The really freaky thing about this picture..... the snowbank by the rink is now halfway up the basketball pole!
The one bright spot to all of this....
I was in the kitchen and heard the all too familiar rumble of the snow plow going down the street. I threw my coat, boots and mitts on and ran outside with my shovel, ready to shovel the plow poop. As I started to shovel, a second plow came down the street, took pity on me and plowed away ALL of the plow poop in front of our driveway. I kid you not!! If I could have I would have given the driver a kiss! I had to settle for a wave as I yelled after him: "Thank you SO MUCH!!!"
