Decking the Halls

Sunday was a sunny, if not a wee bit chilly day, so we decided to put up the Christmas lights outside.  The longstanding tradition in our house is that we put up the lights in November so we don't freeze our butts off, but the lights aren't turned on until December 1 (much to the kids chagrin!)

First they had to test the lights to make sure they worked:

Then they all clambered up on the ladder:

Ms. Marin was grumpy about something, so she gave me her best pouty face:

But the pouty face didn't last long....

That night we turned them on just to check things out:

Now onto Christmas shopping - ugh!!

Looks great! We have the same rule--I hate starting too early. Our Christmas usually starts with SinterKlaas, which is the Dutch Christmas on Dec. 5th. Lucy is pestering me already to decorate and get the lights on!!

Well, I lied. We decorated and got the lights on. It was just too nice out NOT to do it!
