Funny, I thought there would be some 'down time' after the Christmas holiday. Yeah right! I feel like I'm right back into: "running around like a chicken with its head cut-off " mode.
Because of this, this particular post is going to be a mish-mash of catching up.

For Christmas, Quinn really wanted a Dairy Queen Blizzard maker. Auntie Jacquie and Uncle Kenneth came through, and he was beyond excited. I have to say, Chris and I had low expectations of this thing.
When it came time to make the blizzards, Quinn was bouncing off the walls. I followed the instructions to the letter (mostly because I'm anal retentive), and when I poured the blizzard mixture in..... it poured right out the bottom.
Picture this, me in the kitchen with all the kids, while a sticky, gooey quantity of blizzard mix is going all over the table and the floor. Let's just say I was extremely proud of myself for not swearing. That being said, there were a number of choice expressions that were used, including: "OH CRAP!" "CRUMB-SUCKERS", and "AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
Turns out the Blizzard Maker was missing an all important gasket which was needed to ensure the mix didn't spill out the bottom. I sent an e-mail to Spinmaster, the makers of the machine. Do you know what? They sent us another Blizzard Maker, free of charge!! Yep - I couldn't believe it either. And do you know what else? That Blizzard Maker makes damn good Blizzards!!

Last Monday was the first night in a long, long, time that we didn't have anything going on. Aidan had the idea to have a games night, so we played Hedbanz. I love this game because it is simple enough that even the girls can play it. Let's just say that there was lots of giggling and squealing going on as we each tried to guess what the card on our heads was. We all looked so ridiculous sporting the Hedbanz I just had to snap a picture.

Last week our rink FINALLY froze!!! It has been a miserable winter for the rink. It's been more like a cold wading pool rather than a rink. But, we finally had some cold weather and the kids were out on the rink faster than we could lace up their skates. We even took Marin out on her little skates for the first time ever. Of course, today it's +8 and raining so we're back to having a pool in the backyard again. ARRGGHHH. I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but ..... we need cold weather!!!

And finally, last Friday was "Dress like a superhero" day at school. Clearly my children have warped views on what constitutes a superhero, because Shannon was a "super kitty", Quinn was a Ninja, Aidan was "Super Sting dude", and Marin (because of course Marin had to dress up too!) was a "Super smartie pants."

Pretty cool you got another one--that means you got double the stuff in case anything breaks, right? Does it come with toppings or something?
Great rink!
I hear you about the weather...the snow we did have kept our younger two occupied for hours on Sat. Hope we get some more soon--it's so gray and blah out!!
