I haven't done one of these in a while so here goes....
1. It's cold.... damn cold! The last two days have been FREEZING... averaging temperatures of -17, feeling like -25 with the wind chill. You know it's cold when I send the kids out on the rink (which of course is frozen solid thanks to these temps!) and they all come in five minutes later complaining about how cold it is!
2. Our snow is back. We received a winter wallop early this morning, and now it's only slightly warmer (a balmy -9), but there's a beautiful coating of snow everywhere. That said, it wasn't so beautiful this morning when I was dropping the kids off in near blizzard like conditions!!
3. Our brave Snuggles (or "Snug-sicle" as Chris is now calling her) has survived this winter weather. We hadn't seen her for a couple of days so we got quite worried, but on Tuesday she showed up again. We've been letting her in the house so she can warm up a bit, and she's quite happy to explore the place!
4. We went to Cleveland, Ohio this past weekend for a hockey tournament for Aidan. Not only did we go, but we all took the bus with the team. Yes. I said bus. With 15 nine year old boys and their families. For 5 hours. It certainly was an adventure, but the kids had a great time and our youngest three were absolute superstars during the trip!

5. I'm currently organizing a Dance-a-thon for our school, to fund-raise for a new playground. (our old playground was removed because it was deemed to be 'unsafe'. Apparently the board won't cover the $20,000 - $40,000 dollar cost to replace it, so it's left to the Parent Association to fund raise.). To say I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed is an understatement. Play lists, decorations, props, refreshments, photo booths, advertising, fund-raising forms.....oye vey! What have I gotten myself into?!?!?
6. Aidan and I went on an emergency run to the sports store the other day, because he wore through his hockey gloves over the weekend. We bought him new gloves, and it was interesting to see him trying different brands / styles on. He definitely knew which ones he liked, and which ones he didn't. On a scary note.... the new gloves that he ended up buying? They fit me too. YIKES!
7. In a couple of weeks I'll be registering Marin for junior kindergarten. I can't believe that my youngest girl will be starting 'big school' in the fall. She's definitely ready for it, but I'm not sure if I am!!
8. Speaking of my girls..... this morning I pulled out some clothes for Shannon to wear to school. She put them on, and then immediately started crying because she didn't like how her 'polka dot' shirt looked under her sweater dress. She changed, then changed again, and then again. The DRAMA around what she was going to wear today was crazy!! I couldn't believe my normally easy-going girl was getting so upset over her clothes!! (she is CLEARLY not her mother's daughter!) I shudder to think what it's going to be like when she's a teenager.
9. The girls and I are going to a Disney on Ice show tomorrow. We've never been to a show like this, so it should be interesting to see how it goes.
10. For the first time in 20 years (oye - I'm dating myself now!) I bought new winter boots. These Ascent boots were a steal at $40 from Canadian Tire, and so far they're keeping my feet dry and toasty warm during all this winter weather.
