Fabulous Four

And then we added a four year old to the mix.  Marin is now four.  No longer a baby, not even close to a toddler, and just about past being a pre-schooler.  What comes next? Schooler?!?!

Probably the highlight of turning four is getting one's ears pierced. It seems to be a rite of passage that we started with Shannon, and of course it's only fair that Marin be subjected to the same pain and suffering.

Friday was the last day of March Break for us, and the kids and I had some spare time so I thought: "why not drag all of them to witness Marin getting her ears pierced?"  So, that's what we did.

We showed up at the place, and Marin picked out her earrings.  She hopped up on the chair an was raring to go.
Ready for some earrings!!

Then BAM!  The girl pierced her ear so fast Marin didn't even have time to prepare (much less back out!).  Then she wasn't so happy.....
Poor little almost 4 year old!!
Now this picture just cracks me up.  I LOVE the expression on the other kids faces. Aidan is horrified, and fascinated at the same time.  Shannon is smiling because she's all: "been there, done that sister!"  And Quinn is actually grimacing in pain and holding his ears because he can just FEEL how painful it must be.

And quicker than you can say: owwwwww, the girl did her other ear.

A lollipop later, and our little lady had some beautiful earrings:
