Harbor bound

Last Thursday we left for our annual trip to Harbor Springs, to visit Chris' sister Heidi, and her family. We always have a great time on these trips so we were really looking forward to the latest installment.

The drive there was uneventful except for some torrential downpours, but we made it there in record time. As soon as the kids reunited it was as if they had never been apart. They were off like a shot playing in the backyard and building a house out of left over wood. Aidan was over the moon excited because he got to use a real hammer and nails (a fact he mentions to me repeatedly!!).

Usually we have great weather when we visit, but this year Mother Nature wasn't cooperating, so we found some great indoor activities to do, including a trip to Avalanche Bay water park (we could have spent all day there!), bowling, and putt-putt golf (I got my first every hole in one!!).

We also visited Pond Hill farm, a now annual rite of passage. The kids love checking out the animals (Shannon kept saying: "Go see oink oinks Mummy!"), swinging on the tire swing, and of course, firing off squash from the squash rocket!

All in all, it was a great get-away, and we're looking forward to more return visits to Harbor!

Shannon took a minute to smell the sunflowers:

Aidan was very focused on the squash rocket:

Mmmm.... melted marshmallows and fudgesicles:

Quinn, Shannon and me on the lazy river - Shannon couldn't stop laughing:
