is apparently a big a$$ sign we have in front of our house. First we had the bee-hive and now we have.... a bat.
In the wee hours of Monday morning (actually, it was 4:45 a.m. to be precise) I was up feeding Marin. I went back to bed and heard a 'scratching'. At first I thought one of the kids was up so I went to check on them. Nope - everyone sleeping as per usual. So I listened and heard the scratching again. At first I panicked and thought it was the bees again. But upon further examination (read: I listened more closely) I determined that it wasn't bees, it was distinctly animal. The 'clawing' sound seemed to be coming from the duct in our room.
At 5:21 (not to be exact or anything!) I woke Chris up and said: "there's an animal in the duct." Chris shot out of bed and we promptly began searching for the source of the sound. We ended up in the unfinished part of our basement where Chris determined that there must be something in the duct-work. How it got in there is any one's guess.
Soooo.... he banged on the duct and out flies.... a freakin' BAT!!!! Much screaming and waving of hands ensued, as we dashed for the door. We think it's trapped in the basement and possibly dead, but there is a chance that it has also found it's way outside (which is equally disturbing, because if it can go back out, it can come back in).
First we have bees, lots of bloody bees, and a hive for Pete's sake! Now a bat .... aren't those signs of a coming apocalypse?
