We FINALLY had a beautiful summer weekend. Considering it's pretty much the middle of August, I'll take what I can get.
Saturday Aidan ran another 1km race, and matched his earlier time. He seems to enjoy doing the races so I think we'll keep going until he says otherwise. After the race we packed up the van and drove up to the 'drive-on' beach at Ipperwash to meet two other families.
We had an absolutely fantastic day. The kids played and dug in the sand, swam, dug some more, swam again, etc. One of our friends brought a little grill so we grilled lunch right on the beach, and then proceeded to gab, play a little frisbee in the water, and just chilled on the beach while the kids entertained themselves. This is the second year that we've done this with the Woods and Jones families, and it looks like it's become an annual tradition. The pictures tell it all:
On Sunday Aidan had his final soccer game, and we decided to spike his hair up and add red gel to it in honor of his team's colours. His team did awesome, and it was a great way to end the season. I love the picture of Aidan with "Coach Dad":
After the game we headed over to a friend's house to relax and while away the afternoon, and then it was on to Karen's house to celebrate Emma's 8th birthday. Holy cow - I can't believe my niece and God-daughter is already eight years old!!!
