Hockey part deux

Sorry for the hiatus - we have not fallen off the face of the planet, I've just been busy with life in general and kind of 'forgot' to update things on this end.

Back to business though! This year Quinn is old enough to play hockey. He was SOOOOO excited to play hockey just like Aidan, so Saturday morning I put his equipment on just so he could get a feel for what it was like to wear everything.

Here he is:

Sunday morning rolls around and we head off to the arena. Aidan and Quinn are playing at the same time, which makes life a LOT easier for all of us. I was in the dressing room getting the boys' equipment on, and Chris was up in the arena with the girls. Normally we wouldn't all go, but since this was Quinn's first time playing hockey we all wanted to be there for him.

Everything was going smoothly until I discovered that we had left Quinn's helmet at home. AAAAAACKKKK!! I had a mild panic attack, but then remembered that friends of ours had their kids playing in the timeslot before us. I ran out into the hall, and managed to track them down and borrow their helmet. PHEW! Thankfully Aidan is easy-peasy because in the middle of my spazz out, I said: "Aidan, just get going and get on the ice." The little trooper did just that, and headed out onto the ice on his own.

After getting Quinn fully outfitted, I took him out onto the ice and helped him get squared away. The poor little guy started crying and saying: "I don't want to do this!" which is natural considering that he hasn't been on the ice yet this season. I managed to calm him down, and then found my friend Sue out on the ice with her daughter. Sue took Quinn under her wing and had him skating around with a pylon in no time. A little while later Chris went out and worked with him. We were so, so, so proud of our little guy. He pushed through his initial fear, and stayed out there working on his skating. He ended up coming off the ice with a huge smile on his face and can't wait to go back. Way to go Quinner!!!
