It's official: we have become THAT house. You know, the house on the street that has oodles of Christmas lights up?
To give you a bit of history, I love Christmas. I love the spirit it engenders in people, I love the excitement it creates in the kids, and I love giving gifts (so much, that I really do prefer giving gifts then receiving gifts). I also love decorating for Christmas - and I do the house inside and out with holiday decorations.
Typically we put up our outdoor lights when there is a warm weekend in November. This year was easier than most because November was so mild. In past years, Chris has grudgingly helped put the lights up - but he grumbles the whole time (Chris doesn't love Christmas quite as much as I do). Each year, we tend to get an additional strand of lights so that the 'display' gets a bit bigger.
You can imagine my surprise when Chris said: "I think we should get an inflateable this year." HUH?!?!?! I looked at him and said: "who are you, and what have you done with my husband?!?!" So we got an inflateable polar bear and included him in this year's set-up.
Here is the display (minus the light-up gift boxes that were added after I took this picture):
We are officially 'the crazy house' on the block!
Unfortunately, the damn polar bear keeps falling over. No matter what we try, that bear likes to stay on his back. Of course this means that Shannon is constantly running over to me and yelling: "Mu-MY! Pola bear fall DOWN!!!!!"
Who knows what next year's creation will bring, but Chris has already said: "You know what, next year I think we should get the Candy Cane lights for the driveway." HUH?!?!?!?!?
