Blessed Be

Yesterday we celebrated Marin's baptism.  I'm not going to go into the details about WHY we celebrated her baptism when she was over a year old instead of say..... 4 months old as originally planned (if you really want the details, ask.  I'll be happy to discuss how I was told I need to "STEP UP" and act as a better faith role model for my children.  WTF?!?!?!).

The long and short of it is that Marin was baptized on April 18, 2010.  We went to mass first, and it was a bit of a weird sensation (and no, it wasn't because I was about to spontaneously combust!)....

I was in the pew with my kidlets and Chris, and my parents, Aunt and Uncle were on one side of us, Karen and Tim and their kids were in the pew behind us, and my sister and Dave and their kids were behind us as well.  Chris' parents and Grandmother, and Heidi and Robert and little Robert were in the entrance of the Church waiting for the mass to end. This strange feeling of sheer and utter comfort and warmth came over me.  Having family all around us, and knowing that they were there because of our little girl just felt amazing.  It made me feel like we mattered, and that no matter what, our family was always going to be around us and support us.  Words really can't describe the profoundness of how I was feeling.  Maybe higher powers were speaking to me - maybe not.  All I know is that it was an unbelievable feeling, and I thank all of our families for being there.

All in all, everything went beautifully.  Marin was baptized, and promptly fell asleep in the car on the way home so we celebrated while she snoozed.  The grown-ups chatted, the kids played, and played, and played, and .... you get the idea..... on the trampoline.

Here are some pictures of the festivities:

After Chris took this picture he said: "Man you've got a lot of teeth!!"

Listening intently at the ceremony:

This picture cracks me up.  Look how freakin' HIGH Chris is over the rest of the kids on the trampoline.  They LOVED it!!!

After everyone left, we took a deep breath in, and then crashed.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying what turned out to be a wonderful day.
