Well today was a momentous day for Aidan - his first tooth fell out on its own.... sort of....
As you may recall, Aidan had his bottom two teeth pulled last September because his grown-up teeth had fully come in and the baby teeth weren't budging. So in actuality, he's never had a loose tooth. That is, until about a month ago when all of a sudden his top 'big' tooth became really wiggly. Aidan found the whole thing rather disconcerting (he must get that from his mother) so he never really wiggled it too much because it creeped him out.
Today I picked the kids up from school, and Aidan started to munch on some left-over pizza from lunch. We were walking through the halls on the way to the car when Aidan cried out: "Mom, my tooth is bleeding!!" Sure enough there was blood all around his tooth and the tooth was kind of just hanging there.
I quickly stifled my gag reflex (a Doctor or Dentist I shall never be!) and said: "Aidan, your tooth is going to come out! Do you want to pull it out?"
"Nuh - uh!" was his response as he vigorously shook his head.
"Ummm.... well I can't do it Aidan - it's too gross for me." Was my reply (chalk one up for honesty right?)
Luckily the English kindergarten teacher was in the hall and saw this little exchange. "Do you want me to do it?" She piped up.
"Seriously?" I said
"Yeah - I love this sort of thing" she said with a big smile. She grabbed a paper towel, reached into Aidan's mouth, and three tries later his tooth popped out!
So now we have a toothless wonder - it's really weird to see him without his front tooth! A big thank-you to Mrs. Lopes for being a heck of a lot braver than I!
