Well, they're there for a reason.
Yesterday I was on the phone with my mom wishing her a happy birthday (Happy Birthday Mom!), when all of a sudden I hear Shannon screaming: "Ow, ow, OWWWW!!!!!"
I quickly said: "Mom, I've gotta go." Hung up, and went running.
Turns out Shannon was playing with an electric gear from Aidan's marble run, and wanted to hear what it sounded like. So she put the gear next to her ear. In the process, the gear got tangled in her hair, and proceeded to twist and twist and twist....
I frantically grabbed the gear and managed to turn it off. By this point the gear was fully entangled in Shannon's hair and had twisted her hair into a giant knot. If more time had passed, it probably would have ripped her hair right out of her head.
Chris and I managed to untangle the gear and get it off her hair with minimal use of scissors. Once the gear was removed, this is what we had to deal with:
Poor girl - I can't imagine how painful it was! So I popped on the electronic babysitter (aka, the TV) and went to work on the massive, twisty knot from hell. (as a total aside, I remember when my mom spent three hours removing knots from my mane when I was a kid. Well, maybe it wasn't three hours but it sure felt that way! Karma - she has a sick and twisted sense of humour!)
I managed to untangle the beast, and didn't even have to resort to using scissors. I had visions of this gaping hole in Shannon's hair, but we lucked out and only lost a couple strands (and since Shannon has Chia pet hair like me, she can afford to loose a couple strands!) Phew.

Wow. I can't believe she hardly lost any hair. You are REALLY patient!
