What Have We Gotten Ourselves Into?

Thus far, both boys have played travel hockey.  Last year was the first year for Quinn, so it was our first year with two boys in travel hockey.  We managed pretty well, and kept our sanity throughout the entire season.

Aidan decided that this year he wanted to try out for AAA hockey - which is the highest level of hockey you can play.  After a very stressful and grueling tryout period he made the team.  There's One.

Quinn starts his tryouts next week.  There's Two.

Now it's the girls' turn.  Unfortunately, where we live there is no Girls House League for hockey.  This means that they either play travel hockey, or they play boys house league.  Shannon has made it very clear that she has zero interest in playing hockey with boys.  So, we decided to have her try out for the girls travel team.  Because being pulled in 4 different directions would be crazy, we also decided to throw Marin out there, even though she is under-age.

This is Marin before their final tryout, which was an exhibition game with refs and everything.  Look how big her eyes are!!

Well holy Hell.  They both made the team.  Stunned is probably the best way to describe it.  That's Three and Four.

So yes, we will most likely have all FOUR kids playing travel hockey this year.  Now some would say we are crazy (frankly, I'm not entirely sure I disagree with them), but we feel that all of our kids deserve the same opportunities.  That's what put us in this boat.  Yes we could say 'no' and keep them in house league.  But at the same time, this is what they want.  So we're giving it a year.  If by this time next year we have lost our minds, we absolutely will drop the hammer and ki-bash the whole situation.

Until then, we're saving our nickles, dimes and whatever pennies we can find.  But for now we're just getting ready to buckle up and enjoy the ride!
