If you've been a follower of this blog, you know that I have some 'issues' with Loblaws. (most recently here).
That being said, I not beyond eating some crow and acknowledging when they do something right. Sunday morning I took the three youngest to do our usual shopping. I had a pretty full cart when I pulled into the check-out lane. Of course, as soon as I started unloading the groceries I realized I forgot to buy pie crust (and no, I do NOT make it from scratch. There are limits people!!!). I groaned out loud and the cashier said: "what did you forget?".
I looked up and replied: "pie crust, and this is the second time I've forgotten it."
She quickly looked around and then leaned over and said in a conspiratorial voice: "unload your cart, and I'll scan them really slowly so you can run and go get it."
I just about fell over! A friendly AND helpful cashier? at LOBLAWS?!?!?!!
I quickly unloaded the groceries and took off with the kids in the cart. (the kids loved the fact that I was literally sprinting through the aisles while pushing the cart). I grabbed the pie crusts, and ran back to the check-out, just as she was (very slowly) finishing scanning my stuff.
I dropped the pie crusts on the check-out lane, and said (breathlessly): "thank you so much!". And the cashier responded: "No problem." Then she proceeded to talk to the kids and entertain them while I was packing the bags.
Sometimes it just takes one person to make everything go right. So thank you Ms. Loblaws cashier!
