The Return......

.... of our little friend

You may recall a post a while ago, where we had a visitor in our basement.  It took the form of a bat.  We haven't heard a peep out of said bat since he first woke us up that fateful morning.

Well..... that is until today.  I was upstairs working on the computer, and I actually thought:  "hmmm.... haven't posted anything on the blog recently.  Not feeling particularly inspired though."

Chris came home from tennis, came upstairs to say hi, and then went downstairs for some water.  He then came back upstairs and said:  "did you know that there is a bat flying around the kitchen and living room?"

Say WWWHHHHHAAAAAATTTT?!?!?!?!

I dropped the computer, bolted out of bed and ran to the hall.  After quickly closing all the bedroom doors, I crept downstairs to peek over Chris' shoulder.  Sure enough, there was a FREAKING BAT doing laps of our kitchen and living room.  I opened the front door and then ran to the garage and opened that door, and the door going into the house from the garage.  As I stood in the mudroom, I actually felt sorry for the poor little guy, who was clearly confused.

Then I quickly came to my senses and started screaming to get that pestilence infested vermin out of my house!

By some strange happenstance, my camera was sitting on the bench in the mudroom.  Being the intrepid photo journalist that I am, I picked it up and started shooting.  (actually, I was trying to blind the bat - until Chris reminded me that it was already blind.)  Oops.

That being said, I still managed to get this picture:

I think it's important to say that I did NOT use the zoom on the camera.  That's how close the bloody bat was to my head!

After watching him fly around and trying to capture him by throwing a towel and raincoat on it, I screwed up the courage to dash over to the patio doors and open them up.  We tried shooing the little bugger out, and finally he saw the light (proverbially speaking of course) and flew out the door.

I kid you not.  This actually happened.  IN MY HOUSE!!!

I don't think we'll share this little adventure with the kids.

Oh that is WAY too alarming for me. It's a good picture though--you can really tell it's a bat!! Hope you can get over that.
